The Inclusion and Diversity Partnership (IDP) provides a forum for open discussion and collaboration to shape and influence practice in educational settings to meet one overarching aim:
Through a focus on equality and diversity, settings will develop further into places where people genuinely feel that they belong and, as a result, they will develop a strong and positive sense of self and an appreciation of their own and others' uniqueness and identity.
Ultimately, this will impact on wider society as the children and young people in our schools today will grow into tomorrow’s adults. The partnership aims to shape children and develop critical thinking, skilling children up to challenge and confront prejudice, discrimination, and racism, in order for our communities to become inclusive in the broadest sense. The IDP was formed with the understanding that this work is part of a long and sustained journey for our communities, intended to supplement what we already do, and provide a forum for us to work collaboratively on a shared vision.
Our current priorities are focused on four key areas:Children feel safe and heard.
Staff feel part of a supportive team.
Families feel welcomed, valued and involved in their child’s learning journey.
Communities see schools and settings as places that respect and reflect them.
117 schools and settings have signed the county commitment document to demonstrate to others, both those within their immediate communities and those further afield, that they are working to further promote a sense of belonging in their settings.

Please complete the sign up form to receive the Teams link for the meeting. The meeting will follow the same online format as our previous staff meetings, with opportunities for your staff (including support staff and any governor representatives) to discuss the work you are doing in your schools, hear and reflect on lived experiences, and further consider how to fulfil the overarching aim of the partnership in your own settings.
In preparation for the session, we would encourage you to review your current practice against section 8 ‘Engaging Parents and Carers’ in the SE toolkit. SE Tool June 2024.docx
