    Kerry joined the HIAS team in September 2023 on secondment. As Subject Leader for Modern Languages at an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school in North Hampshire, Kerry has led a team of language specialists to improve the provision of language teaching. Over the last 25 years, Kerry has experienced numerous changes in language teaching, and the most recent focus has been the development of a new curriculum for French and German, with an emphasis on speaking using key vocabulary and structures. This has resulted in increased confidence, engagement and GCSE uptake. The strong results are mostly due to performance in the speaking and writing components.

    Following the pandemic, Kerry coordinated the COVID recovery plan and her school’s approach to intervention and transition from primary school across all subjects. Kerry has also recently acted as Faculty Leader for Communications, taking the strategic lead for English as well as Languages.

    Since 2018, Kerry has been joint chair of the Local Area Modern Languages Panel and thoroughly enjoyed learning together and sharing ideas with other local schools. Kerry is passionate about coaching and mentoring colleagues, ECTs and trainees.
