Executive Leader Network for Collaboration and Improvement

This network is designed to facilitate conversation, problem solving and develop closer networking relationships for those working in federations or collaboration. The sessions will be tailored by you, so while there are outline areas described below, they will be adjusted to the needs of the group.

The first session will consist of networking, understanding each other's context and sharing approaches. From there we will set a primary focus for each session and explore reading materials and other media to support and challenge our thinking together.

Objectives:

• successful networking with other senior leaders
• opportunities for problem solving everyday challenges
• opportunities to review leadership structures - unpicking a variety of models and approaches
• sharing of approaches to safeguarding when leading more than one school
• how to successfully delegate responsibilities - how do we ensure action and impact? 
• successful performance management approaches - how do we manage this effectively? 
• reviewing approaches to budgets and finance across your settings - how do we ensure best value for all?
• opportunity to share and discuss current research and approaches to leading more than one school

Developing a more impactful personal development and wellbeing curriculum

As part of Hampshire's ongoing commitment to inclusive practice and improved outcomes for vulnerable pupils, this high impact training is intended to support schools to strengthen the impact of the personal development, enrichment and wellbeing elements of their curriculum. 

Designed with school leaders in mind, the session enables participants to evaluate how effectively their Personal Development and Wellbeing (PD&W) provision meets the needs of all learners - particularly those who are most vulnerable. Through the afternoon training session, staff will critically review their current offer, identifying both strengths and gaps in provision, with a clear focus on equity, inclusion and impact. 

This face to face, half day session provides an opportunity for professional dialogue and reflection, supporting leaders and curriculum leads to deepen their understanding of what constitutes high quality, inclusive practice in personal development. Participants will also develop greater clarity around current expectations and how this area is evaluated. 

By the end of the session, attendees will leave with:

• a sharper understanding of 'strong' PD&W provision and its role in improving outcomes
• clear priorities for development within their own school context
• practical, evidence informed strategies to enhance the curriculum offer
• greater confidence in ensuring provision is inclusive, responsive and impactful for all pupils

This training is particularly suited to senior leaders and teachers with strategic responsibility for PD&W, equipping them to lead meaningful curriculum improvement across their setting.

Improving transition for new pupils joining your school

Effective transition is critical to pupil success. Poorly managed school or phase changes can negatively affect both wellbeing and academic progress, particularly for vulnerable pupils. Schools therefore need robust, consistent systems to ensure every child - especially those most at risk - are supported to settle quickly and achieve, belong and thrive. 

This two part training is designed to strengthen schools' transition provision, equipping teachers with practical, evidence informed strategies to better support new pupils and their families from the point of entry, improving both attainment and engagement. 

Session 1: academic transition - focuses on identifying pupils' starting points, understanding individual needs, and putting in place targeted strategies to accelerate progress from the outset

Session 2: pastoral and parental transition - explores structured, tiered approaches to communication, information sharing, and support for pupils and families, strengthening relationships and inclusion. 

This training is particularly valuable for schools with high pupil mobility and for class teachers and/or senior leaders seeking to improve curriculum continuity and transition processes across year groups. 

Objectives:

• to facilitate a case study methodology approach to review the impact of transition on the wellbeing, sense of belonging, attendance and achievement of new pupils
• to support teacher's self evaluation and improvement of their academic and pastoral transition processes, with reference to Hampshire's commitment to inclusion, HQIT and OAP principles
• identification of best practice to strengthen the foundational knowledge and skills curriculum during transition
• support teacher's preparation for Ofsted under their guiding principle of 'achieve, belong, thrive'
• exploration of a tiered approach to support the handover of pastoral pupil and parent information during transition
• signposting to other LA services that support pupils through admission and transition
• to support leaders next steps planning to enable more pupils to be better prepared for the next stage of their education
