  • HIAS training events during the COVID-19 outbreak

Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service (HIAS) is offering a broad programme of virtual training for schools over the summer term. Many of our subject networks and previously scheduled courses are being delivered as online sessions and, in addition, we are pleased to offer a number of NEW virtual training events in June and July.

    How to book

    Existing course bookings

If bookings have already been made on a summer term course that is now planned to offer online, no action is required - your booking will automatically be transferred to the virtual learning event and a notification and Microsoft Teams meeting invitation will be sent out via the Learning Zone.

Using Narrated Learning Journeys to help all Teachers Plan (Webinar) - 9 July 2020

      Keyword search: Narrated journeys

This session replaces the summer term science coordinator networks and is offered as a standalone session.  The learning journeys are sometimes tricky for teachers to interpret unless they have had a chance to discuss them like you do at the networks. In this session we will share with you how you can access a set of narrated learning journeys that are designed to help all teachers plan.

Primary RE: Islam (Webinar) - 8 July 2020

      Keyword search: Islam Webinar

This hour long webinar will help teachers increase their confidence in teaching Islam and provide suggestions for progression in children’s knowledge and skill from year 3 to year 6, together with an overview of areas that are important for transition to Secondary RE.

      Keyword search: Primary RE NQT

This hour-long webinar is for newly qualified teachers who are due to begin teaching in September 2020.  Due to the lockdown situation and finishing placements and academic studies earlier than planned, some teachers may have had little or no input in RE on their teacher training course and may therefore feel under confident about the subject.

Being a Design and Technology Subject Lead in a Primary - 14 July 2020

      Keyword search: Design Subject Webinar

The course will give new and aspiring Design and Technology subject co-ordinators confidence in leading and managing their subject. Practical activities will provide participants with tools and structures for planning and assessment and there will be opportunities to share good practice.

‘Prevent’ in the Context of Developing a Safeguarding Culture (Webinar) - 16 July 2020

      Keyword search: Prevent Webinar

This is a half-day course that provides an opportunity for teachers and leaders in schools to update their training on ‘Prevent’ and radicalisation. This replaces the previous ‘WRAP’ training.
